The Atlanta Hawks apparently liked what they saw from Dejounte Murray.
Murray and the Hawks are finalizing a four-year, $120 million max extension with a player option after his first season with the team, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Murray was heading into the final season of the four-year, $64 million deal he signed with the San Antonio Spurs, in which he held a cap hit of $18.2 million for 2023-24.
The Hawks acquired Murray in a blockbuster trade last offseason, parting with three first-round picks plus a pick swap for the All-Star guard. The move gave star point guard Trae Young a backcourt counterpart with significant defensive bona fides, something Young was admittedly lacking, and another player through whom the offense could run.
