Responsibilities:

Provide advice and counsel to business clients on wide array of business and contractual issues while coordinating with other legal team members and stakeholders
Draft, review, negotiate, and work closely with business partners on various agreements in support of strategic initiatives, including software license agreements, service agreements, purchase agreements, and other commercial agreements
Provide general legal support, including in the areas of commercial disputes, transaction structuring and strategy, and other legal issues
Advise executive management and business clients regarding proactive compliance with all requirements in the area of transactional contracts
Assist with compliance and regulatory reporting in identified practice area(s)
Partner with business clients at all levels to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully and maintain the highest level of confidentiality
Develop creative approaches to managing legal risks and resolving disputes
Develop and manage policies and procedures regarding contracts and commercial relationships, including development of appropriate form documents and clauses
Identify and implement growth strategies and process improvements
May be responsible for the management, coaching and development of paralegal team members
Represent Academy in negotiations, hearings, and other forums
Develop strong partnership with leadership, including senior management from other corporate departments, distribution centers, stores and their vendors
May be responsible for managing outside legal counsel
Operate within constraints of the financial budget for assigned practice area(s) and assist with annual budget submissions
Develop a thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures, and safety rules
Identify and develop projects spanning other corporate departments, distribution centers, stores and their vendors
